Both are magical in their own ways — draped in white, whispering through pine forests, and echoing with silence only the mountains can hold. But they offer two very different moods. One feels like an adventure, the other like a quiet conversation with nature.
There’s something truly special about trekking in winter. The air feels crisper, the forests quieter, and every step on the snow sounds like a heartbeat of the mountains. When most people stay tucked under blankets, a few adventurers head towards the Himalayas — to frozen lakes, snow-draped forests, and starlit camps. No invitation is needed for someone to follow his own interests. With that in mind we 16 LMTG colleagues came together to trek the 2nd highest peak of Maharastra and the highest fort in the SHAYADRI region.

The winter trekking season typically falls between 21st November to 1st March. Snow-capped peaks pierce the clear blue skies, frozen water bodies create mesmerizing ice sculptures, and the silence of the snow-covered trails is both peaceful and refreshing.
Summer trekking allows you to explore the mountains during their most vibrant season. The sweet spot for summer trekking falls between 15th April to 15th June. During this period, the harsh winter falls back, leaving behind clear paths and meadows painted in a Spectrum of colours. The weather remains pleasant, making trekking a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Spring trekking allows you to witness the mountains coming alive after the winter slumber. Lush meadows burst forth with vibrant wildflowers, snow-capped peaks reveal themselves in their full glory, and the crisp mountain air invigorates your senses. This moderate season generally falls between 1st March to 15th April, offering a comfortable and enjoyable experience that is ideal for trekkers of all levels.
Monsoon trekking allows you to witness the mountains at their most dramatic. The scorching heat subsides during this period, replaced by refreshing showers and a verdant landscape. The monsoon trekking season generally falls between 10th July to 10th September. While some trails might require more caution due to slippery conditions, the overall experience is refreshing and reviving.
