Salher is located near Salherwadi in Satana tehsil in Nashik district of Maharashtra, India. The Salher Fort is famous and known as the main place where Parashuram did his penance. It is said that, after winning the earth and giving it as a donation, he made land for himself to live in, by pushing the sea back with his arrows, right from this place. Salher Peak and Salota Fort are just two of the vantage points from which Salher Fort can be seen. These locations provide an excellent view of the sun setting over the nearby hills and valleys. The Salher Peak, which is the highest peak in Maharashtra, is a well-liked trekking location. The Salher Fort and neighboring peaks are seen from the peak. Additionally, close to the Salher Trek, the Salota Fort is renowned for its expansive views of the surroundings. Both of these locations are excellent for viewing the sunset and admiring the surrounding scenery. A popular Ganesh temple called the Salher Ganesh Temple is located near the Salher Fort. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is said to be very old. It is a popular spot for tourists and devotees alike. It is estimated to be very old; its construction was done around 500 years ago! It is a must-visit place well known for its beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Quick Itinerary

Day 1: From Ganesh’s ancient abode to Sunset’s golden throne

The trekkers will depart by 10:00 am from Valsad and stop for lunch en route. The time taken to reach the base camp will be around 3.5 hours depending on the traffic. Once they reach the base camp at Salher Wadi by 1:30 pm, they will be allotted their respective tents which will be provided on group sharing basis. Indulge in a scrumptious lunch by 2:00 pm. The team will group up for a short trek to the ancient Ganesh temple near the Salher Fort by 3:00 pm. The trek from Salher Wadi to Ganesh temple takes an hour. The route involves a gradual ascent through scenic trails and lush green forests, making it a pleasant trek. Trekkers can take breaks along the way to admire the natural beauty of the surroundings and capture some stunning photos. Once you reach the Ganesh temple, trekkers can soak in spiritual vibes and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the place. The trekkers will then be allowed to rest and a group orientation provided by Team Wildvoyages will be given during the high tea by 5:00 pm. If time permits, the trekkers will then walk towards the sunset point, a popular spot among photographers and nature lovers alike, making it a must-visit destination. The panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills, coupled with the vibrant hues of the setting sun, provide a perfect backdrop for capturing memorable photos. The trekkers will then head back to the camp which will be followed by dinner at 8:00 pm. As night falls, the trekkers will be indulged in activities like campfire, stargazing and other small games.

Day 2: Conquering the Salher Fort

Trekkers will wake up by 6:00 am and gear up for the next leg of adventure- the trek towards the Salher Fort which will begin at 6:30 am after a quick breakfast. The trek starts from the base camp at Salher Wadi and takes you to the top of the Salher Fort, which is the highest fort in Maharashtra. The trek is moderately difficult and can take anywhere between 4-6 hours to complete. Once you reach the top by 10:00 am,you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Embrace this unique experience while taking pictures. The trekkers will then descend back to the campsite by 2:00 pm and proceed for lunch followed by which they will be allowed to rest for some time. Trekkers will pack their bags and proceed back to Valsad by 3:30 pm and reach by 7:00 pm. The Salher Fort trek ends here and trekkers will take back a bucketful of memories and unique experiences with them.
